Hey, I'm Gage Treanor
 

Hospitality business management graduate, chef of nine years, restaurant manager, and relentless entrepreneur and out of the box thinker. 
I'd best describe myself as an all-rounded optimist, friendly, passionate and driven. Here at Cognitive Farms, we are mastering producing delicious local variety leafy greens, mushrooms, and native British berries. Furthermore, we keep in mind sustainability, ecology, biodiversity and our local wildlife. My mission for CognitiveFarms Manchester is to utilize my experience gained with urban farming, hospitality and business to create outstanding seasonal varieties grown in a vertical indoor configuration bringing 'farm-to-plate' like no other.
     We want to achieve an indoor vertical farm with the possible use of Aquaponics, a method for food production whereby using fish water which contains precious minerals and nutrients coupled with aquaculture in a symbiotic environment whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically grown plants to make a product grown to perfection with the finest quality guaranteed.
This helps increase food security for our local area, reintroduce seasonal variety, organic chemical-free natural growing processes.  

Let me show you what we have been up to... I endeavour to encourage sustainable farming practices and have been trying it out myself, using a no-dig method recommended by Charles Dowling a small producer in the south of England. His method has such beneficial properties not only for the quality of the veggies but the local ecology, soil and wildlife. No dig means the beneficial mycelium or micro-fungi webs under the soil are able to proliferate helping send nutrients and water to plants. Have a look at the vibrancy, quality and size in the pictures below. 'The proofs in the pudding'. In addition, I also plan on launching an artisan gourmet 'CognitiveFarmsMCR Box' this spring with hand made local products and from my own produce and some great fabulous collaborations with some of manchester's finest food producers.
